Research

As a Watson Fellow, I traveled across Johannesburg, Manila, Seoul, São Paulo, Tokyo, Aruba, and Berlin to study how artificial intelligence reshapes intimacy, power, and embodiment. Working with survivors of cyber-sexual violence, queer and trans communities, artists, technologists, and spiritual practitioners, I examined AI as a social and ethical force rather than a neutral tool. My research traced how algorithmic systems extract from bodies and images—through surveillance, deepfakes, and standardization—while also exploring counter-practices of care, ritual, and collective repair. Grounded in Buddhist reconciliation, Indigenous knowledge, and community-led art, my fellowship centered restorative approaches to technology, asking how people reclaim agency, rebuild intimacy, and imagine more humane digital futures when harm cannot be undone.
